Adoption information

The City of Calgary is once again adopting cats and dogs at the Animal Services Centre in addition to transferring adoptable pets to our partner agencies, to help animals find their furever homes faster.

Shelters and rescue agencies are currently at capacity with the overpopulation of homeless animals. The City reinstated its adoption program to assist with this crisis by making adoptable animals available by appointment.   Once a pet is deemed adoptable, they are available either at the Animal Services Centre or one of our partner agencies: the Calgary Humane Society, or the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society (AARCS).

Adoption fees include medical and dental care, vaccinations, microchip, City of Calgary licence, and spaying/neutering.

Anyone interested in adopting a pet is encouraged to check out the adoptable animals on and at the links below.
