Old and broken appliances

Take old and broken small kitchen appliances to an electronics recycling drop-off.

This is for countertop heating appliances that have a power cord or runs on a battery/charger. This includes:

  • Coffee makers and machines (includes drip and pod machines)
  • Espresso and cappuccino makers
  • Toasters and toaster ovens
  • Kettles
  • Rice cookers
  • Food steamers
  • Bread makers
  • Slow cookers and pressure cookers (e.g. Instant Pot)
  • Deep fryers (remove oil)
  • Chocolate fountains
  • Egg cookers
  • Hot plates, induction cookers, portable stoves
  • Panini press and sandwich makers
  • Popcorn makers

Special instructions

  • Remove all food residue and cooking oil from appliance before taking to a drop-off location.
  • If you take electronics to a landfill and bring other garbage in your load, landfill charges will apply.
  • Some restrictions apply. For full details, see Electronics Recycling program.
  • Do NOT put electronics in your blue cart as these items can damage the equipment at the recycling facility.
