Festivals and Events Event funding

Festivals and events enhance our communities, the lives of our citizens and play an important role in Calgary's growth as an active, vibrant and creative city.

We know Calgarians are always looking for ways to safely participate in arts, culture, sport, and recreation events. This page outlines the funding opportunities associated with The City available to support festivals and events that improve the wellbeing of citizens, families, and our communities.

Eventful City Electrical Efficiency Microgrant

The Eventful City Electrical Efficiency Microgrant supports not-for-profit festival and event organizers to hire a contracted service provider to help implement and manage electrical requirements more efficiently. The microgrant is only available one-time and provides funding up to $5,000.

Arts & Culture Microgrant Program

Funding from $500 to $50,000 is available for community-run projects and installations, events, opportunities for local artists and culture makers, activations in winter months, or activities with an Indigenous or multicultural focus.

Organizations that receive funding support from the Festivals and Events Subsidy Program are not eligible to receive an Arts & Culture microgrant.

Festivals and Events Subsidy Program

The Festivals and Events Subsidy Program is for registered not-for-profits, charitable organizations and Business Improvement Areas that support a variety of local festivals and events including street festivals, parades, community, sports and recreation events.

In 2024, a total of $3.3 million will be made available through the Festivals and Events Subsidy Program.
