Rundle Manor Redevelopment

New affordable housing is underway at the site of the former Rundle Manor residential complex. The new development will be the future home for Calgarians living on lower and median incomes.

Project background

On June 30, 2021, Calgary Housing Company closed the Rundle Manor residential complex. While Rundle Manor was a valuable asset in the provision of affordable housing, it was no longer practical to make major investments into the 40-year-old complex. In its place, a new affordable housing residence is being redeveloped on the property.

The new 135-unit residence will feature a mix of one- two- three- and four-bedroom homes and accommodate individuals and families living on lower incomes. Redevelopment began in July 2021 and is expected to be finished in Q4 2024. Calgary Housing Company plans to develop new, modern affordable housing on the site. The site meets key criteria The City of Calgary uses to select sites for affordable housing, including nearby community amenities like groceries, transit, schools, parks and recreation areas.

With one in five Calgary households struggling to pay for housing costs, this redevelopment is part of The City’s direction to ensure that low-income Calgarians have a safe, stable place to call home in all neighbourhoods across the city.

Location

Rundle Manor is located at 4225 26 Avenue N.E. Rundle Manor will be redeveloped to make way for new affordable housing on the site. The redevelopment began in July 2021 with completion anticipated in Q4 2024.
