Housing Needs Assessment
The latest data published in The City of Calgary’s 2023 Housing Needs Assessment shows that an increasing number of Calgarians are struggling with housing affordability.
The findings highlight the current housing crisis is affecting Calgarians looking to buy or rent a home, and those that are in greatest need of affordable housing supports.

Housing Strategy
It is estimated that more than 84,600 households cannot afford their housing. The City of Calgary can take steps to contribute to Calgary’s long-standing housing affordability, and its associated economic advantages.
The City of Calgary’s Housing Strategy is being updated and will support all aspects of the housing continuum, ensuring individuals have access to safe, affordable housing. The strategy was reviewed at the Sept 14, 2023 Community Development Committee meeting with public participation.
