Preparing property assessments for hail affected properties
Assessment continues its efforts to support hail-impacted property owners in Calgary communities. While many properties are now fully repaired from the June 2020 hailstorm damage, there still remains some with existing damage. There are also additional properties that have been impacted by hailstorms. City assessors are reviewing market and inspection data and will make market value adjustments, as necessary, to reflect the physical condition of those properties as at December 31st 2021.
Information for property owners
Did your property receive a market adjustment for hail damage?
To find out whether your property received a market adjustment for hail damage please log onto your secure Assessment Search account. If you don’t have an account, we have easy to follow information help set up accounts and use Assessment Search. Please have your 2022 Property Assessment Notice on hand as it has a property specific access code which is needed to set up an account.
Market adjustments are noted in your Property Detail report, as an influence and will show as specified as a “Hail Event”.
My property is damaged, but I don’t have the Hail Event influence on my Assessment Search Account
While we have conducted visual inspections of the affected communities, we know that some damage may not have been visible from the street. If your property was damaged hail and remains damaged, please call us at 403-268-2888 to discuss.
Based on our conversation, you may be asked to email photos of the still-existing damage. If so, Assessment’s phone representative will outline what is required and provide you instructions on how to email your photos. Some photo examples of hailstorm damage that warrants the above-noted “influence” are shown.

To help you understand what your tax obligation may be, we have developed a tax calculator to help you estimate your 2022 taxes. To use it please have your 2022 your assessment value, which is available on your Assessment Notice or by logging onto your secure Assessment Search account.
