How to dispose of fluorescent light tubes
Safely recycle fluorescent light tubes for free at a household hazardous waste drop-off site:
Small quantities of fluorescent lights
Designated fire station
- Accepts light tubes up to 4 feet in length.
- You can bring up to 3 tubes per visit.
Large quantities of fluorescent lights
City landfill Throw 'n' Go area - if you bring with other garbage, landfill charges will apply.
- Accepts tubes that are longer than 4 feet in length.
- You can bring up to 8 tubes per visit.
If you are a business with fluorescent light tubes to dispose of, they can only be accepted at Shepard landfill and a permit is required. See our Industrial Waste permits page for full details.
