History

Haskayne Legacy Park was made possible by the efforts of many people over more than 10 years. It started with Former Mayor Bronconnier’s vision to create larger regional parks along the borders of Calgary. Funded by the ENMAX Parks Program and generous donations from individuals like park namesakes Dick and Lois Haskayne, the park was opened on September 16, 2023. Dick and Lois Haskayne donated some of the land for the park and contributed funds that supported the development of the pavilion building. Their generous contributions helped protect this unique natural area containing ecologically-sensitive, native fescue grassland for all Calgarians to enjoy.

In recognition of their contributions to the park, one of the harvest-style picnic tables under the pergola bears the Haskayne family brand. The Stockmen's Memorial Foundation added the brand to the table during the opening on Sept. 16, 2023.
