Calgary Climate Panel

With the adoption of the Calgary Climate Resilience Strategy on June 25th, 2018, The City moved forward with one of the first recommended actions for governance: collaborative action from The City, industry, and citizens. The adopted approach involved bringing together key organizations and actors to form the Calgary Climate Panel. This was not a formal committee of Council, but rather an external advisory network and partnership collaboration, with a mandate to provide:

  • Broad strategic advice to City Administration on energy and carbon reduction opportunities, severe weather risk reduction; and
  • Communication on progress through annual reporting process

The Climate Panel provided strategic advice and recommendations to City Administration in the development and implementation of the 2022 Climate Strategy – Pathways to 2050
