A cricket pitch or ground is primarily used for practicing and playing the sport of cricket, but it can also be used for Australian football. We have several cricket pitches available to book.

Calgary's Cricket pitches are D class fields. They are maintained by Calgary Parks. Mowing is sporadic. For maintenance requests, call 311.

Cricket pitch locations and features


Calgary's Cricket pitches are unstaffed and have no amenities. They are normally located near Community Associations or open spaces that are not on school property. Most are lined.

Rental rates


D & E-class fields are subject to an administration fee of $10.50 unless your hourly rate total is higher than $10.50.

For example if you book a D-class field at the minor rate for 1 hour, the cost would be $14.50 ($4.00 plus the $10.50 administration fee). However if you booked a D-class field at the minor rate for 3 hours, The fee would be $12.00 ($4.00 x 3 hours) and  there is no $10.50 fee added because you have exceeded the minimum fee requirement.

A $4.75 risk management fee is applied to each permit. 

No refunds are given for inclement weather/rainouts, with the exception of approved tournaments.

Booking Schedule


The booking of Cricket pitches is available first to priority and renewal users. Prior to Public Day, response times for special event, tournament and renewal applications will vary and are not guaranteed as this is a high-volume period. 

New requests for booking cricket pitches are handled on a first-come, first-served basis. All pitches can be booked on or after the Public Day of the season. Prior to Apr. 1, and after Dec. responses for most applications can take up to a maximum of three business days to process.

Availability & booking


Check field availability and submit an application using our online form. Applications can take up to seven business days to process after public day has occurred.

Bookings can also be arranged by contacting Facility Bookings. Please note that during the peak season, if your first booking is within 7 days it is best to call in your short notice requests.​

If you are having port-a-potties placed on site, you must contact The City through 3-1-1 to arrange a suitable location.

Rules & regulations

General rules

  • Footwear allowed for fields: rubber-soled shoes with rubber screw-in cleats less than 1/2 inch, or running shoes. No metal cleats or cleats larger than 1/2 inch.
  • Please be considerate of community residents and all other park users.
  • Public disturbances and excessive noise, including vulgar language and honking of car horns, are prohibited.
  • Dogs are not permitted at athletic parks (Bylaw 23M2006 – Section 15).
  • All groups are required to have their permit with them at all times. It is impossible to double book a field or diamond. If approached by another user group or the party refuses to vacate, please contact 311 and request a bylaw officer to be dispatched. 
  • The group is responsible for any damage to the field (except normal wear and tear), and to surrounding residences, schools, cars, etc. Field users are required to carry insurance and are responsible for any damage their group may cause. This may include excessive damage to the field, damage to surrounding properties (residences, schools, etc.), or vehicles.
  • Field and parking areas must be left clear of garbage.
  • Only crushed dolomite or latex may be used to mark playfields. Marking fields is the responsibility of the user group.

  • If you are having port-a-potties placed on site, you must contact 3-1-1 to arrange a suitable location.

Parking

  • Parking is not permitted in private parking lots, driveways, alleys or on greenspace. Vehicles are not permitted to drive on turf, including playfields.
  • Field users are expected to abide by all parking bylaws.

Additional rules

  • No access to fields or greenspaces that are covered in snow or extremely wet.
  • Driving tent stakes or any stakes into turf is prohibited.

Alcohol and Cannabis Consumption – Zero Tolerance

The City of Calgary in accordance with City Bylaws has established a zero alcohol and cannabis environment at City facilities. We ask for your support as we do our best to provide safe and enjoyable family environments at all City-owned facilities.

If organizations fail to comply with the guidelines they will be contacted by a City of Calgary representative and advised of the non-compliance. By agreeing to the terms of your ensuring that all league members are aware of the guidelines. 

The Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis Act, Section 89 provides that no person may use or consume liquor in a public place or any place other than a residence, temporary residence, licensed premises or any other place as prescribed in the regulations.

Public Place

89(1) Except as provided in this Act, no person may use or consume liquor in a public place or any place other than a residence, temporary residence, licensed premises or a place or class of place prescribed in the regulations where liquor may be used or consumed.

The City of Calgary in accordance with City Bylaws has established a zero alcohol and cannabis environment at City facilities. We ask for your support as we do our best to provide safe and enjoyable family environments at all City-owned facilities.

This Act 89(1) applies to all arenas, athletic parks, pools, playfields, parking lots and multi-purpose facilities.

Fines for not complying with Bylaw # 23M2018 smoking or vaping in public spaces is $100 (Cannabis) $115.00 (Alcohol or intoxication) 

Some exceptions are:

  • Festivals/Events booked through Recreation with approval/license from The Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) agency and paid security.
  • Private adult events booked through an Athletic Park Special Event Application Form, with proof of AGLC approval/license. Security is provided for the duration of the event at a cost of $35 per hour per security guard. Security volunteers are not permitted.
  • Concessions with an AGLC license to sell alcohol.

Zero tolerance is in full effect and actions will be taken for organizations and or individuals who do not abide.
