An accessible city, benefits everyone. The installation of new wheelchair ramps is among the many services The City offers to make Calgary an accessible city.

Wheelchair ramps are installed on public property as part of the concrete repair phase of our regular summertime paving program. This ensures:

  • Cost-effective, efficient service is provided to all Calgarians.
  • We maximize the number of wheelchair ramps constructed each year.
  • Construction impacts on communities are minimized as work is coordinated

Request a new wheelchair ramp

The City of Calgary will review all wheelchair ramp requests. Any requests for a ramp on a street corner or a marked crosswalk that fall outside of the annual program will be actioned on a priority basis, budget permitting.

The City will also review wheelchair ramp requests on public property in front of a private residence or business. If approved, the property owner will be solely responsible for the construction and installation costs of these wheelchair ramps.
